24 maart 2020. Het eerste positieve covidresultaat loopt binnen in woonzorgcentrum Akapella. Vele zullen volgen. In Akapella wordt met man en macht gewerkt om alle bewoners te verzorgen en om zij die gaan sterven een menswaardig levenseinde te geven. Op één maand tijd sterven 24 bewoners. En dat is zelfs voor een woonzorgcentrum veel. Heel veel.Leen Smits is huisarts en Coördinerend en Raadgevend Arts (CRA) in Akapella. Om iedereen en alles een plaats te geven, schreef zij brieven, aan bewoners, collega's en andere mensen. Al deze brieven vormen een verhaal over leven en doodgaan en zoeken naar zingeving. Een verhaal over dankbaarheid voor het vele moois dat mensen te bieden hebben. Een verhaal over hoop. Een persoonlijk verhaal, maar ongetwijfeld herkenbaar voor velen.
